Brewing Trouble

I was a part of a talented group and together we created a short animation film titled

"Brewing Trouble"

developed from a log line to a film,

and as the technical director I took responsibility of both characters rigging while communicating with the animators to create a workable rig and custom to our film's deformation required, emphasising on creating a smooth movement on the dresses as it had layers of meshes, using ribbon system and painting weights with hidden joints movements to help the animators maintain the movement and the shape,

and our film had lots of facial closeup shots and I created a complicated yet simple to use facial rig using more than 90 joints(each character) using joint based, ribbon system and modeling the basic expressions(smile, sad, eyelid up/down, etc) and used as blendshapes to help the animators create detailed and appealing expressions,

I also rigged the more complicated assets to fit our film's style of deformations such as for one of the shot we needed to make a stack of books, tables, barrels, etc, to tilt and move in a stylised and believable movement and so I used IK/FK setup and adjusted the paint weight to create the movement we wanted.

and as the lead character modeler I transformed one of the 2D character design created by our team to 3D and ready for rigging, and I helped see through the 2nd character by giving feedback, creating a base models and giving inspiring ideas to create an appealing character and making enhancement to match the style.

as the lead texture/shading artist I created the 3D texturing style by texturing one of the characters and later approved by our art director and supervisors and used as a visual guide to the texture team,

I also helped see through all the textures in our films by giving direct feedback to our texture artists and help solving any issues on the way,

I also created both characters texture shaders on Vray, and helped the texture artists solve some textures and shaders issues to create a matching style by the whole texture team.

as all of my roles were leads I had a lot of responsibility and working out problems and limitations with the supervisors,

it was a great experience and I learned a lot mostly about problem solving, it was the first time doing rigging and being the technical director was quite

the challenge.
